RICHIE B

"I’ve been into comic books — Marvel, 2000 A.D. — sci-fi, fantasy, films, reading, and art since the early '70s. In 1983, I fell in love with Hip Hop and I’ve been obsessed ever since. Now, nearly 54, that passion hasn’t faded one bit.
The Golden Era — mid-'80s to mid-'90s — that’s my favourite. I bought my first turntables and mixer back in 1988, right after leaving school. I’m still digging crates, still collecting records, comic books, art, and soaking up all the pop culture I loved back when it wasn’t cool… but is now!
Over the years, I’ve been lucky to build friendships and collaborations with DJs, MCs, producers, fans, graffiti writers and influencers across the US and UK. And in 2023, I had the privilege of spending time in New York — in the South Bronx — with some of the true legends and pioneers of Hip Hop: B-boys, B-girls, graffiti artists, and musical icons. It was full circle for me."
